Journey to Sacred Peru
If this retreat looks like the trip of a lifetime to you but you don’t quite have the finances to afford it, read on…
Now that you’ve put down your deposit, you have the chance to raise the money for your plane ticket (approximately $1000) and/or recommended spending money (approximately $200). In order to facilitate this process, we’ve already created sponsorship letters and pledge forms for you to use upon request. Individual sponsors are free to donate any amount to support you; however, we are asking that they donate in cash or write out a personal check to you. If they make out a check to Journey to Sacred Peru, you will have to send the check to Knoxville, TN to get it cashed before being able to utilize the funds. If the sponsor insists on writing the check to us, we will work with you to cash the checks and get the funds back to you in a timely fashion.
Here’s how this works: First, familiarize yourself with the information posted on the website about Casa de Milagros, which explains a lot about the foundation that supports the orphanage and how our retreat also supports it. Also take time to read the sponsorship letter. That way, you will be able to answer any questions that your potential sponsors have. Then, give a sponsorship letter to anyone whom you think may be willing to be a sponsor. Explain that any amount can support your trip.
REMEMBER: The donor letters also serve as a receipt for the donation…just make sure that anyone who sponsors you writes their donation amount at the bottom of the letter and saves it for their tax records. You do not keep the donor letters.
Once you have received a donation, write the name of the sponsor and the amount that they donated on the attached pledge form. All of this record keeping is up to you! You will need to gather enough money to buy your plane ticket first, but you can keep gathering donations for spending money up until the time of the trip. Any donations that you don’t either put toward your plane ticket or spending money, we are asking that you give back to Journey to Sacred Peru after we return from the trip so that we can donate the extra money to Casa de Milagros.
